As a wedding planner, there is nothing better than working with vendors who are kind, enthusiastic, and downright talented at what they do. Caitlin Caldwell, owner of Vintage Magnolia, and her entire team not only make our job easier, but make it much more fun, as well! Vintage Magnolia is a full service wedding and event florist located in the Vail Valley, and they also have a charming retail shop in Edwards, Colorado! Learn more about Caitlin and Vintage Magnolia below!
Kelly Karli Weddings & Events: When did you start your business and what motivated you to do so?
Caitlin Caldwell: I had the unique opportunity to assume ownership of Vintage Magnolia in June of 2014. I was the store’s original manager and helped the previous owners open the shop seven years ago. From the start, the store has had a special place in my heart… I’m so fortunate to now call it my own!
KKWE: What would you consider your greatest professional achievement in the past year?
VM: This past year was my first full year in business. Honestly, every day has felt like an accomplishment…those with a good night’s sleep felt even greater.

KKWE: What separates you from your competition?
VM: Passion and Service! To us, Vintage Magnolia is something bigger than flowers. It’s the opportunity to be part of people’s momentous occasions. We are grateful to share beauty with our clients. As a result, the personal touches we provide come naturally. We are dedicated to delivering the highest level of service and creativity.
KKWE: When you’re working on a wedding or event, how do you usually interact with the other vendors? What is your experience working with wedding planners?
VM: I love how small the wedding industry can feel and I love seeing all my vendor friends each weekend during wedding setups. We help each other and trust each other. I’ve helped Planners solve drama, I’ve helped venues set linens and I’ve helped caterers set B&B plates in a time crunch. Other vendors have helped us carry heavy boxes, light candles and pin bouts. Wedding planners are our leaders and help unite us all! I DREAD wedding setups that don’t involve wedding planners. No matter how smooth a setup goes, it always feels disorganized if someone isn’t in charge on site.

KKWE: How would you describe your style or aesthetic?
VM: Classic elegance shines in all our work. Our designs are textured, organic, lush and one of a kind. They are often inspired by the new trend, a change of a season, a unique bloom or a special occasion.
KKWE: What (or who) inspires you in life and in your work?
VM: I am constantly inspired by the talented professionals in the wedding industry. Few understand what we go through and what we do to order to pull off a successful wedding. Those in the wedding world are passionate, determined, hardworking and a bit crazy…but we all love being a part of what we do!
KKWE: How would you describe your creative process?
VM: Collaboration! I am always in awe of the talent of our staff. We are constantly sharing new ideas and inspiration with each other, bouncing ideas off each other and brainstorming not only concepts, but also logistics and the best and most efficient way to design certain more challenging floral structures and unique pieces. It takes quite a creative team to transport blooms and heavy poles on a snowcat in the middle of the winter and them into a jaw dropping chuppah on the top of the mountain!

KKWE: What’s your favorite way to unwind?
VM: Snowboarding, hiking, anything outside enjoying the mountains with my spotted pup!
KKWE: If you weren’t in your profession, what would you want to do?
VM: I’ve always thought it would be fun to be an interior decorator or a personal chef (though my cooking skills are lacking!)
If you find yourself in the Vail Valley, stop by Vintage Magnolia‘s retail shop and check out their beautiful accessories, florals, and other gifts. We want everything in the shop, and we think you will, too!
