Venues are one of the essential aspects, in your planning process. They truly capture the essence of each Bride and Groom that chose to create their story there. Today, we are so excited to feature Abby Schissler, owner of Bella Vista Estate. Surrounded by the beautiful Yampa Valley and a nearby lake, Bella Vista Estate provides an authentic cozy Colorado venue location in Steamboat. Continue reading to explore the story behind Bella Vista Estate and the dream come true for Abby and her husband.
1. KKWE: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business.
Abby Schissler: Bella Vista is a dream come true and an answer to prayers. My husband and I had been looking for a property that we could host retreats, weddings, and reunions at and use as a platform in which to do good. This Estate is even more beautiful than anything we could’ve dreamt up and we became the humble stewards of it in August of 2016. It is perched above Lake Catamount and the Yampa Valley in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO. With lodging for up to 28 guests, a tennis court, heated outdoor pool, indoor natural grotto, fire pit, chauffeured shuttle and the most breathtaking views in all of Colorado – it is the perfect place for groups to come together to relax, refresh and reconnect.
KKWE: When you’re working on a wedding or event, how do you usually interact with the other vendors? What is your experience working with Kelly Karli Weddings and Events?
Abby Schissler: Other vendors are the biggest component to making our events at Bella Vista a success. We provide the space, but they are the ones that work the magic and really make the event come alive. We require our guests to use a wedding planner for every special event on site and do so because we see the importance of it. A lot of our couples are having destination weddings so to have someone to help put all of the pieces together is a must.
KKWE: How would you describe your style or aesthetic?
Abby Schissler: Bella Vista is a true Colorado Mountain Estate. It has rustic touches that evoke comfort and style. With barn wood walls to rock wood-burning fireplaces, there is a hint of the “true Coloradoan” that brings authenticity to your Colorado mountain wedding.
KKWE: What or who inspires you in life and in your work?
Abby Schissler: God. Through and through. Our whole heartbeat at Bella Vista is bringing glory to God and providing a space for people to connect. We want to provide an oasis where your everyday stress and mess melts away. “Bringing it back to Eden” is our motto- to get back to simplicity and what matters in life.
KKWE: How would you describe your creative process?
Abby Schissler: I am always trying to come up with ways to enhance our guests’ stay with us. I believe in community and connection so we start with building that locally here in Steamboat Springs. We have so many people on board to help create a dream vacation, wedding or family reunion.
KKWE: What’s your favorite way to unwind?
Abby Schissler: Hiking on one of the amazing trails we have here in Steamboat! There is nothing better than climbing to the top of a peak and overlooking the endless valley views. Steamboat, unlike many other mountain towns, is set apart with large open spaces and not overrun with land development. There is a magic to the land we live in- that’s why people say the Steamboat curse is true. Once you come to live here- you will never leave, and if you do- you will always return! The community is captivating!
KKWE: If you weren’t a venue coordinator, what would you want to do?
Abby Schissler: I would want to….. do nothing else! This is exactly where I want to be and what I’ve been dreaming of since I was 18 years old!
