Kelly Karli Weddings & Events is always looking for new vendors to introduce to our couples. We absolutely love the vendors we recommend now, but it is imperative to have new vendors who bring a fresh perspective to the table. This is the first blog in a new series we are starting called “New Vendor Alert!” We will be profiling new vendors who have reached out to us (or vice versa), and who align with our brand.
One of the most important pieces of anyone’s wedding is finding a photographer who complements your style and can achieve the look you want for your day. This week we are spotlighting Tamara Gruner Photography! Tamara is a fine art wedding photographer based out of Denver who captures moments of beauty and creates photos you will cherish for a lifetime. We asked Tamara a few questions to get to know her better!
KKWE: Tell us a little about yourself and your business!
Tamara: My education by itself sets me apart from other photographers – I am a PhD in Cancer Research. Although I took a different career path, at first, I was always associated with photography from the beginning of my life. My dad was a photographer primarily bringing out the art of landscape and event photography. Although he passed away when I was very young I grew up with his art and passion for photography. I wanted to follow my passion for photography. I started my business in April 2013 and together we are a boutique photographer team – a husband and wife dream team. Thanks to my role model Jose Villa, whose workshop I attended November 2014, I discovered film photography new and I am finally on the right path and can’t wait for all the exciting weddings, which await me and my husband.
KKWE: How would you describe your style or aesthetic?
Tamara: I am a fine art wedding photographer and I shoot in both film and digital formats (more film than digital). My whole portfolio on my website is shot in film. I work with the finest vendor when it comes to film processing (Richard Photo Lab). I aspire to produce artistic, timeless, and romantic pictures the couple will cherish for the rest of their lives. My favorite time of the day is during sunset – when the light at its best to capture romance.
KKWE: What (or who) inspires you in life and in your work?
Tamara: I am inspired by beautiful people and things. A beautiful wedding is the perfect inspiration for me and makes me feel to give my best on that day. I want to produce beautiful images for the couple, the vendors, and myself.
KKWE: How would you describe your creative process?
Tamara: The best way to describe my creative process is by looking at the way I create my styled sessions . I usually choose an inspirational color palette which is trending, yet timeless. I work with my vendors to bring about the best in collaboration using every thread of inspiration each one of us can produce. I use different accents – from Silk & Willow to Mrs Box to create the entire ensemble,
KKWE: What is your favorite way to unwind?
Tamara: I love traveling and nature. These are the best ways to unwind – travel around Colorado and taking a walk, a hike or a bike ride in nature. And of course, traveling back to Europe for city trips when visiting my family in Germany. I love hanging out with my family and friends not talking about business but about life and every day things. I also love reading and watching TV and movies.
KKWE: If you weren’t a photographer, what would you want to be doing?
Tamara: Well, this is a tricky question since I gave up my career for photography. If I weren’t able to do what I do I would probably teach biology as a lecturer. I definitely wouldn’t want to work in the lab doing experiments. Interacting with people became way too important for me than staring at my pipette.
Tamara’s photography speaks for itself in it’s elegance and beauty. Check out more of her work at her website, www.tamaragruner.com!
