We at Kelly Karli Weddings & Events believe florals are the element that makes your decor come together and create the stunning wedding of your dreams. It’s important to have a connection with your wedding florist so they understand your vision and know exactly how to deliver it. This week we caught up with florist Liz Griffith of Siloh Floral Artistry! We love her romantic and artfully inspired work. Read on to find out more about her!
KKWE: Tell us a little about yourself!
Liz Griffith: I am a born and raised Colorado native and every day feel grateful to live in this gorgeous state. I’ve been designing flowers for the last 6 years and have been a flower nerd from the start. There has never been a day where I wished I did anything else. Ever since I was young, I have worked with my hands, – there is something so satisfying with getting them dirty and seeing what happens. I hope that one day my hands are as wrinkly as my grandmother’s – there are so many stories and so much richness that comes with the wrinkles. Give me a good glass of red wine, some brie cheese, and a rack of pork ribs and I’ll be your best friend. I try and go for a walk every day. I’m a sucker for adventure, traveling the world, getting lost in the tiny corners of a new city, and for laughter. Life is funny and weird. I try and not take it too seriously.
KKWE: How would you describe your style of aesthetic?
LG: Just as a painting or a sculpture inspires and moves people, I believe floral design is an incredible art form that can move people and awaken memory, affection, and wonder. I love working with the unique and the unusual – texture, shape, color, and movement. I love working with elements that are alive and changing. I aspire to design pieces that spur imagination and longing.
KKWE: What or who inspires you in your work?
LG: Travel. Architecture. Culture. Dance. Movement. Light. Shadow. Seasons. Stories. Nature. There is so much richness in this world that we have access to. My inspiration is always changing and evolving and that plays out in my work.
KKWE: How would you describe your creative process?
LG: I always want to start with dreaming. I think that is so important. No limitations. No boundaries or restrictions first and then work out the designs from there. I want every piece to be unique. Every wedding or event to be new and inspiring. I think florals and decor can so uniquely and tangibly represent a couple and their style and that’s always the goal.
KKWE: What’s your favorite way to unwind?
LG: The truth of it is I’m an “eatin girl.” I love good food, good wine, and just spending evenings with friends over a long meal. No timeline – just savoring every bite. I also play piano and guitar and it’s one of my creative outlets when I’m not designing flowers.
KKWE: If you weren’t a florist, what would you want to do?
LG: Back up dancer for sure. Probably for Beyonce. Or Justin Timberlake. That is if we’re living in a dream world and I can have whatever skills and talents I want. If we have to be more realistic, I think I would love to be a interior design stylist and get to style and decorate homes, sets, or vignettes to be photographed.
We think Liz would be an amazing backup dancer, but we couldn’t bear to lose her as a floral artist! Check out more of her work at silohfloral.com!
