It is not just your imagination, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are all flooded with engagement posts – more so than usual. Why? ‘Tis the season! Yes, we know the holidays have passed, but these next few months are the Christmas of Wedding Planning. Engagement season is in full swing, meaning vendors, wedding dress boutiques, and even venues will be offering sneak peeks at what is new for upcoming brides.
A recent survey by the Huff Post revealed that the most popular day of the year to get engaged is Christmas Eve, followed by Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. In fact, Wedding Wire calculated that 33% of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. This breeds a whole new batch of eager brides.
The wedding industry is very unique, because (with some exceptions) there are no repeat customers. Brides come in cycles and once they become wives, they typically do not come back through the process. That is a big reason why the wedding industry can stay so fresh and relevant – we are always aiming at a new crowd.
So, pay attention to who is trying to catch your attention this season! Blue Bridal in Denver will be hosting a trunk show from January 24-26. They will feature some of this season’s gowns at discount prices. Also in Denver, the Bridal Collection is having a sale now through April 30th.
In terms of your favorite venues and vendors, this is the ideal time to reach out to them. They are expecting to book the majority of their weddings in these next few months. Go ahead and ask them if they are running any special deals, or if they are having open houses. This also means that if you have been procrastinating, it is time to get serious. With the rush of new brides, the competition to book will be much more intense. Make sure you are on top of your planning and knock out some of the bigger tasks up front to ensure everything else is smooth sailing.
